Seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to work in the Pediatric ICU (PICU) to serve as the leader of the Nursing Care team whois ultimately responsible and accountable to the patient for the assessment,planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient focused, outcome orientedcare. Will develop competencies forfunctioning safely in all areas of Pediatric/PICU Services. Nursing plan of care will include newbornsand adolescents.

What you will do inthis role:

  • Through assessment of the patients physical,nutritional, psychosocial, spiritual, emotional, cultural, educational, andrehabilitative needs, problems are identified and documented in the clinicalrecord and communicated to the physician, social worker, case manager, and ancillarydepartments when appropriate

  • Appropriate standards of care, care plans, andinterventions are initiated, professionally modified, and communicated to thepatient and other members of the healthcare team

  • Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skillsnecessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety,and related criteria appropriate to the following age groups: pediatric, children, and adolescent.

  • Provides patient/family health education thatpromotes healthy behaviors, supports recovery, and enables the patient/familyto be involved in decisions about their own care

  • The patients responses to interventions andprogress toward desired outcomes are assessed, re-assessed, evaluated, anddocumented in the clinical record

  • Patient care activities are coordinated throughcollaboration and planning with other members of the healthcare team

  • Physicians orders are carried out accurately andefficiently, and clarified when necessary

  • Adverse or sudden changes in the patients conditionsare promptly communicated to the physician, charge nurse, nursing supervisor,and/or family with specific and pertinent data

  • Able to identify potential or actual victims ofabuse and understands the proper reporting mechanism

  • Able to recognize adverse drug reactions anddemonstrates understanding of proper reporting mechanism once reaction isidentified

  • Appropriately assesses the patients pain andinvolves the patient in effective management of that pain using appropriateinterventions

  • Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skillsnecessary for administration of blood and blood products and appropriatelymonitors the patient receiving blood/blood products for any transfusionreaction; takes proper measures once a reaction is recognized
